“Mythic imagination can break the spell of time and open us to a level of life that remains timeless. Myth is not about what happened in past times; myth is about what happens to people all of the time.”

About

*

I am a mythologist from England with a keen interest in folklore, symbolism and the occult. I have loved myths and old tales since I was a child. I believe that in fractured world they offer wisdom and connection. They imbue the earth with magic and wonder, as well as helping us to understand ourselves.

I always try to re-tell them as they were told, or written down. I thoroughly research the roots of the story, to the best of my ability, of the culture from which it sprang, and the landscape that shaped it. I then enrich the story with the particular clothing that would have been worn, as well as the flowers and trees, etc, which the people would have known. I also try to find the oldest sources for a story, but I also only tell stories that are in the public domain, and which are most often over a hundred years old. I have great respect for the stories I tell, and it sounds strange but I know if a story wishes to be told or not. There have been countless tales I have loved, but they did not wish to be told by me, so I have left them alone.

All of my books are self-published and completely self-funded. My wonderful granny left me money in her will which I used for the first book, and my equally wonderful mum has helped me with all three books. I do not write the books for profit, as that doesn’t align with my principles. The price charged covers the illustrations, editing and publishing of the books. I believe that sacred teachings, myths and folktales belong to all of us, and it is my absolute pleasure to be able to share the beauty of all of the myths and old traditions with you.

Thank you always for you support.
