“A branch of the apple-tree from Emain
I bring, like those one knows;
Twigs of white silver are on it,
Crystal brows with blossoms.”

The Silver Bough is a journey into a forgotten Otherworld of hollow hills, glass mountains, and fabled islands. With over twenty myths and folktales arising from the rich traditions of the world, from Iceland, to Siberia and the Celtic lands. Among the stories are Gwyn and the Lady of the Lake, The Shipwrecked Sailor, Galahad’s Quest for the Grail, and Apples of Immortality. Each of the five accompanying sections is woven from the threads of each tale. Rich in symbolism, shamanic traditions and esoteric wisdom, The Silver Bough traverses ancient cosmologies, from the kingdom of the dead, to the domain of the flood, and the land of the hidden folk.

Testimonals

“In this book you will find evocative re-tellings of myths and fairytales. Amy Dyer has a way of writing where she adds texture and context to the stories. For instance, she adds elements from the world of nature to further add to the already enchanted worlds of these old stories. She also comments the tales in insighful ways, drawing upon comparative mythology. The artwork by Niall Grant is magical.”
